Ok.. what?

So, Rihanna was seen at the Coachella Festival in California putting some form of “white substance” on her bodyguards head. Some say its weed, white weed.. and some think its cocaine. Rihanna, on the other hand, being the sophisticated individual she is- replied:

… sooo mature and admirable, Rih Rih, big fan, big fan

Spike Lee (1990’s)                                                                                       Chris Brown (2011, Look at me now)

Jimi Hendrix (1970)                                                                              Wiz Khalifa (2011)

Can you all see the comparison?  I’ve been meaning to blog about this for a long time now. Not in a negative way before all ya’ll haters start using your keyboards of doom- but in a positive way.

Obviously, we are all inspired by the greats, whether it be through fashion (Spike Lee & Chris Brown) or way of life (Wiz Khalifa and Jimi Hendrix), but I find it super fascinating when I actually get the pleasure of seeing history repeat itself.

Now you all know, I’ve been waiting for ever for the 90’s era to repeat itself (its the only time where I feel like I belong…) but with the 90’s repeating itself (via fashion, music samples and dance moves), I have noticed slight elements of the 70’s; by this I mean, every other song is either talking about drugs, includes the sound of taking drugs (lighters, sparkers, puffs) or the music videos are surrounded by people actually physically smoking the drugs. This all started back in the 70’s when heroes like Jimi Hendrix were about and bigger than ever! Jimi was almost always seen with some form of cigarette or joint in his hand or mouth, we all know that this was deemed normal in the 70’s as people didn’t really understand the long-term affects of drugs. But now, I see artists like Wiz Khalifa (who is pretty much a spitting image of Jimi) and Kid Ink (oh how I love him..) pretty much repeating history by including smoking scenes in almost ALL of their video’s. I am not worried about this at all because we have enough background information on drugs now to be able to laugh at anyone who takes them. Although it may seem like I’m nagging, I’m actually pretty amazed! This is really cool, not the smoking part, but the part about history repeating itself!

Now the 90’s was bound to return sometime! I’ve noticed that a lot more dance scenes have been included in music videos, its not just video vixens and showing off. Now theres actually dance moves to learn, like the LMFAO Shuffle or The Cat Daddy and the Dougie. This is exciting because maybe these dance moves might help kids get off the streets. Its worked in America! More kids are becoming involved with the brand new trend dance moves than crime. It doesn’t just benefit the community in the long run, but it benefits our childhood – we are growing up in a world that is twice our age and we are experiencing things that teenagers really shouldn’t have a clue about. These dance crazes might bring back our innocence slightly or make a slight change!

I really have a good feeling about the next few years, I can feel a BIG change coming!
